Community Link was founded in 1958 by a group of parents in Boulder to promote the inclusion of their children with intellectual or developmental disabilities in the local community. In the decades since then, Community Link’s service offerings have broadened, but our mission of inclusion and support for individuals and families, and our deeply rooted personal connection to the IDD community, has remained. Each member of our current Board of Directors has a family member with an intellectual or developmental disability.

Over the years, Community Link has continued to prioritize our founders’ goal of creating community connections. Not only do the individuals we serve benefit from being integrated into their local community, but we believe the community as a whole greatly benefits from their participation in it.

At Community Link, the people we serve aren’t just another number, and we don’t take a cookie-cutter approach to providing services. Instead, we get to know you and your family and work together to craft customized levels of support through our Residential , Day and Employment Programs that align with individual interests and needs. Our team is committed to putting our customer’s choices first and helping them design the life they want.

Ultimately, we want the individuals we serve to live their best, fullest lives. Watching that happen is the most rewarding part of what we do.

Mary Joe’s Story –

“My son has Down’s Syndrome, and as he was approaching age 18, it was a very scary and confusing time for our family. When your child with intellectual or developmental disabilities becomes an adult, you’re confronted with a whole new system–new rules, new levels of funding and new tiers of service. Of course, the last thing you want is to end up with a lapse in services, but making the transition to a new agency can be tough to navigate!”

“What I liked about Community Link was its long history. They weren’t a Johnny-come-lately, shiny new organization that was all flash over substance. On the contrary, Community Link not only had decades of experience, but their team was authentic, caring and really committed to looking at my son as the multi-faceted individual that he is. They worked with him and our family to provide family caregiver residential services, day program services and employment support and offered him choices that reflect his interests and desires. He is thriving and leading a meaningful life, and I’m so grateful!”
